About

Mission Statement
The mission of Old Arlington, Inc. is to preserve and cultivate the history of the Old Arlington area of Jacksonville, FL for the promotion of economic development and revitalization within the Old Arlington area.
A Brief History of the Organization
Old Arlington, a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization, was established in 1993 when citizens became concerned about the possible loss of historic structures in the area, most notably the Norman Silent Film Studios. The organization quickly partnered with the City of Jacksonville and obtained grant funding to commission a survey of historic structures. The resulting survey and companion publication, “Arlington – A New History,” began the preservation process. From the plantation days to the present day, the stories of the lives of the people of Old Arlington have come alive again.
The unique assets of Old Arlington – our central location, miles of beautiful riverfront, Tree Hill Nature Center, charming neighborhoods and strong community spirit – combined with our rich history, afford unique opportunity. Like other communities in Jacksonville and across the nation, Old Arlington, Inc. recognizes the economic value of historic preservation.
